The Animals & Society Institute is looking for a Copyeditor for one of its managed journals, Society and Animals: Journal of Human-Animal Studies, a peer-reviewed interdisciplinary academic journal. The copyeditor is responsible for editing papers for clarity, US style English usage, grammar, punctuation, reference checking, and formatting. Additional tasks involve communicating with authors and editors. The position is a one-year contract part-time opportunity with option for renewal. $30/hr. Work is done remotely. The position is available immediately.

Requirements: Extensive copyediting experience, strong communication skills to work with authors and editors, BA or BS or equivalent work experience.

Preferables: Experience with an editorial manager platform, genuine interest in and some familiarity with issues involving nonhuman animals and our relationships with them, comfort with working under time-pressure
