The Animals & Society Institute is soliciting interest in becoming an Associate Editor in the Companion Animal area of its managed journal, the Journal of Applied Animal Welfare Science (JAAWS).

The position entails responsibility for the review process in this area, including finding and communicating with qualified referees, communicating with authors during the review and revision process, and coordinating with the Editor-in-Chief, Kenneth Shapiro, PhD, on the disposition of manuscripts. The position requires grounding in both qualitative and, especially, quantitative methodology. The journal uses the ScholarOne online tracking software and you would be given a training session on its use.

The workload is not heavy— presently, the companion animal section receives about 12 submissions per year. There is a stipend for associate editors, around $1000.

To apply for this position, please email your CV to ASI Executive Director, Ivy Collier at
