Humane Education Resources

Following are a selection of organizations that offer important resources to those working in the field of, or interested in, humane education.

Institute for Humane Education

Mission: To Create a just, humane, and sustainable world through education

The IHE Believes that education is the key to creating a just, humane, and sustainable world for all people, animals, and the environment. They offer programs and resources designed to train, educate, and inspire people to become humane educators and changemakers, and to live with compassion and integrity while working to solve the most pressing challenges of our time.

They achieve this by:

  • offering education and training opportunities, including five accredited graduate programs and workshops, for people all over the world
  • providing relevant resources and tools for educators, activists, and citizens
  • advancing the field of humane education and working to redefine the purpose of education

Mission: To foster compassion and respect for all living beings and the environment by educating youth and teachers in humane education.

HEART’s services are specially designed to provide a combined focus on human rights, animal protection and environmental preservation. Their direct services to educators and students, as well as their advocacy efforts, enable HEART to significantly impact the way young people think about their responsibility to one another, animals and the natural world. By linking their age-appropriate instructional program to their service-based learning program, HEART gives students the tools to make positive changes.
