Our Defining HAS video series continues with a video by Alison Hanlon, Associate Professor, School of Veterinary Medicine, University College Dublin, who has discussed the term zoocentrism.
Alison Hanlon is an animal welfare scientist and ethicist. Following a light bulb moment in 2006, the focus of her research changed to collaborating with social scientists to explore stakeholder understanding of animal welfare and identify practical solutions to improve the health and wellbeing of animals. Veterinary ethics is a key part of her teaching and research portfolio. Alison is an Associate Member of the European College of Animal Welfare and Behaviour Medicine, on the Farm Animal Welfare Advisory Council, and the Scientific Advisory Committee on Animal Health and Welfare (Ireland) and has co-authored over 100 publications.
