Defining Queer Animality with Josh Russell

This week’s Defining HAS video series addition is by Joshua Russell, Assistant Professor in Animal Behavior, Ecology, and Conservation, and in Anthrozoology, at Canisius College, who has been tasked with explaining the concept of queer animality.

Dr. Russell’s research broadly looks at humans’ lived relationships with various animals and the more-than-human world. He is particularly interested in children’s relationships with animals, connections between animal studies and environmental education, as well as queer experiences of animality and nature. Josh lives in southern Ontario with his partner Sean and their rescue dog, Penny.
