This week’s Defining HAS video series video is by Anthony Podberscek, Professor at the School of Veterinary Science, University of Sydney, and Editor in Chief of Anthrozoös, who has defined the term anthrozoology.
Dr. Podberscek received his veterinary degree and Ph.D. (in animal behavior and human–animal interactions) from the University of Queensland, Australia. From 1992 to 2015, he was a post-doctoral research associate in the Department of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Cambridge. Since January 2015, he has been an affiliate of the Faculty of Veterinary Science, University of Sydney, working at the Charles Perkins Centre. He has published numerous papers and book chapters on companion animal behavior, the treatment of animal behavioral problems, attitudes to animals and animal welfare issues, and cultural aspects of human–animal interactions and he has co-edited two books, Companion Animals & Us, and Bestiality & Zoophilia: Sexual Relations with Animals.
Since 1997, he has also been the editor-in-chief of Anthrozoös, a multidisciplinary journal of the interactions of people and animals.
