Defining Animal Agency with Sarah E. McFarland

This week’s Defining HAS video series video is by Sarah E. McFarland, Professor of English at Northwestern State University, who has explained the idea of animal agency.

Sarah E. McFarland is Professor of English at Northwestern State University, in Natchitoches, LA, where she lives in the piney woods with her multispecies family. Her current research explores the convergence of critical animal studies and post-apocalyptic speculations to theorize ecocritical recognitions of diverse subjectivities in climate change fiction. Sarah has authored many journal articles and book chapters in human and animal studies and is coeditor of Animals and Agency: An Interdisciplinary Exploration (2009).
