The Animals & Society Institute is pleased to share this news from our 2019-2020 Human-Animal Studies International Development Project (HASIDP) grant recipient. The purpose of this competitive program is to provide one non-American university per year the resources to build its own human-animal studies program, and the Instituto de Ciências Sociais da Universidade de Lisboa is well on its way. Congratulations, Verónica!

Message from Verónica Policarpo:

Hi everyone! I want to share with you the program of the upcoming brand new course “Animals in Society”, beginning next 17 September, in Lisbon, at the ICS – Instituto de Ciências Sociais da Universidade de Lisboa and the Human-Animal Studies ICS.

Apologies to all those who don’t read or speak Portuguese, but wanted to share the good news anyway.:-) It will be the first (post-grad) course about animal studies in Portugal, and therefore it is a great joy to be part of this endeavor. The course, as well as other activities of the Human-Animal Studies ICS, has the support of the Animals & Society Institute’s International Development Fund.

I also wanted to share in case there are any Portuguese speaking colleagues out there, reading this post. If you are interested, contact us, even if you’re living outside Portugal/Lisbon. The course will be delivered as live, face-to-face, teaching. But it will be possible to attend classes via Zoom. Por isso sejam muito bem vindos!
