The Board of Directors of the Animals & Society Institute (ASI) are pleased to announce the appointment of Elijah Brice-Middleton as Executive Director.

Brice-Middleton previously served as the Executive Director at Plainfield Area Humane Society, as a fellow at Metro Denver CAT, and as lead admissions counselor at the Animal Care Centers of NYC. He has nearly a decade of nonprofit experience in animal welfare in the United States.

“We are thrilled to welcome Elijah as ASI’s new Executive Director,” said Liz Hirky, PhD, Chair of ASI’s Board of Directors. “He brings the right combination of experience, skill, and enthusiasm, along with both a deep passion for animals and an appreciation for how research and education can improve the lives of animals.”

As Executive Director, Brice-Middleton will provide leadership to the ASI staff and work with the ASI Board of Directors to further the Institute’s mission and vision and to achieve its strategic goals. His duties include staff and operational management, strategic planning, and development, in addition to creating partnerships and building on ASI’s relationships with the Human-Animal Studies community.

ASI is dedicated to providing education and resources to those working around the world to understand and improve human-animal relationships. ASI has four core areas of mission work in promoting the field of Human-Animal Studies, comprising research, policy, practice, and resources.
