Website Reprint and Use Policies

Documents on our website may be reprinted for nonprofit and educational use as long as our reprint guidelines are followed. You don’t need to contact us beforehand, but we’d appreciate it if you would send us a copy of the reprint (via office@animalsandsociety.org) in context after it has been published or shared on your website.

Website Guidelines

If you choose to reprint one of our articles online, please always link back to the original article on our site. This helps to ensure that visitors to your site can access the most accurate and up-to-date information when an article changes.

Press Use Guidelines

You can feel free to use information from the Animals & Society Institute website for an article as long as you follow these guidelines. We’d appreciate it if you would send us a copy of or link to the article after it has been published.

  • If quoting, give credit to the original author of the material. If an individual author is not listed, you can give credit to Animals & Society Institute.
  • The credit should also indicate how to contact Animals & Society Institute using the address provided at the bottom of this article.

Reprint and Classroom Use Guidelines

  • Reprint entire documents (HTML, text or printed). This way, the information is not taken out of context. What is an entire document? In most cases it’s an entire document (HTML, text or printed).
  • Give credit to the original author of the material, if an author is listed. If an individual author is not listed, you can give credit to the Animals & Society Institute.
  • Provide Animals & Society Institute contact information. Each document should let the user know how they can contact Animals & Society Institute. If the information is on-line, provide a link within your document to the original Animals & Society Institute page. If the information is to be printed, place our postal address on the page.
  • Send us a copy of the item in its reproduced context (newsletter, flyer, etc.). If you obtained the original from the web, you can send your reprint to the address provided at the bottom of this article.
  • Or alternatively you may email a pdf version to office@animalsandsociety.org.

Translation Guidelines

  • Translate entire documents. This way, the information is not taken out of context. What is an entire document? In most cases this means the entire web page (HTML document). To copy a web page with only the article (no menus, etc.) use the “Print Friendly” button at the bottom of the article.
  • Clearly indicate the name of the person or service that did the translation. Animals & Society Institute does not recommend the use of automated online translations services (e.g. Google Translate) for documents that are intended to be shared.
  • Clearly state that Animals & Society Institute is not responsible for accuracy of the translation.
  • Clearly indicate the date of the translation, so people will know how old/out of date the document may be.
  • Provide the url of the original document, indicating that the most up-to-date version of the document can always be found at the original location.
  • Give credit to the original author of the material. If an individual author is not listed, you can give credit to Animals & Society Institute.
  • Each document should let the user know how they can contact Animals & Society Institute. If the information is on-line, provide a link within your translated document to the original Animals & Society Institute home page. If the information is to be printed, place our postal address on the page.
