No, not that tournament, the Brackets for Good (BFG) online fundraising tournament!

ASI is back in the bracket again after our heartbreaking last-minute loss in the first round last year and this time we are ready to play. But we can’t do it without some help from the bench, and that’s where YOU come in. Tip off for the first round starts Friday, February 24th at 8:00 PM and with your support we can score points, and more importantly, raise some much-needed funds for our violence prevention and diversion programs.

The Brackets for Good tournament is modeled after the NCAA basketball tournament, starting with 64 “teams” and progressing through six one week rounds to produce a winner on March 31st. Each dollar donated to ASI through BFG scores us one point in our matchup against our nonprofit “opponent.” With your support we can win this round, getting us one step closer to winning the grand prize. This is also an excellent way to reach out to a larger audience and let people know what we’re all about.

Although ASI is in the Ann Arbor Area bracket, you don’t need to live in the Ann Arbor area to participate. Help us get the word out and score as many points as we can by:

  • Donating – starting on Friday 2/24 at 8:00 pm (EST) you’ll be able to score points for ASI in our first round match-up.
  • Sharing a link on social media – even if you are not able to help with a donation, you can still make a difference by sharing this link to our first round match-up on Facebook, twitter, etc.

Round 1 begins at 8:00 pm (EST) on Friday, February 24th and ends at 7:59 pm on Friday, March 3rd. If we make it to the next round, our match-up will start immediately after at 8:00 pm.

Sure, it would be great to win the tournament and win the grand prize, but we’re not in for glory. Even if we don’t make it out of the first round we’ll still be raising awareness about violence toward animals and with we’ll raise some money to go toward our Diversion Programs, and that’s a win in our book. From educational materials about basic care of companion animals to psychological counseling models for adults and children who abuse animals, ASI provides a wide range of tools to Human Service Professional, Criminal Justice Professionals, Humane Educators, and other professionals who work to prevent the onset and/or continuation of violence against both animals and humans. Every dollar raised for ASI during Brackets for Good will be used to toward maintaining and growing these Diversion Programs. If you care about the human-animal connection as much as we do, this is your chance to put your money where your heart is . . . and help us score some buckets from downtown!
