Online Certificate in Animals, Community and the Law
Rutgers offers the only graduate certificate program in animals, community and the law. Students will acquire practical knowledge to resolve conflicts that arise when animal, community
and government interests intersect, and will learn online--through a blend of case studies, applicable laws and engaging instruction--about the role of animals in the community including rights, conflicts, public policy, safety, control and litigation.
Courses include:
Disaster, Estate Planning, and Litigation (January 20, 2009 to March 24, 2009)
explores the individual/state dynamic in addressing animal needs in death and disaster
Cruelty (May 27, 2009 to August 4, 2009) explores its many facets in legislation and litigation
The Companion Animal (September 8, 2009 to November 10, 2009) explores trap, neuter,
and return, municipal ordinances, limit laws, hoarding, and more. (Requires completion of one
or more courses and approval of instructors)
