The Animals Platform is our central program to advance animal protection as a public policy issue. The platform consists of six sections that address: companion animals; wildlife; captive wildlife; animals in agriculture; animals in research, testing and education; and humane education. Updated and revised editions of the platform will be produced on a two-year cycle timed to coincide with the U.S. presidential and off-year elections.

Animal Models of Human Psychology: Critique of Science, Ethics and Policy by Kenneth J. Shapiro, PhD Foreword by Jane Goodall $34.95; ASI Member $29.50
Animal Models of Human Psychology contributes to the debate on our treatment of nonhuman animals in research by providing an empirical method for evaluating the benefits of the research and the costs to the animals. The usual "costs-to-the animal vs. human-benefits" arguments simply have not been based on empirical findings. But they could be. By offering additional science-based methods of evaluation, the book attempts to make the case against animal-based research stronger.
